The End of the Line

The End of the Line is one of my favorite short stories. A tiny person is captured and bought, and in captivity is abused and humiliated in the worst ways. Despite all of it, there’s a small spark of hope and strength that keeps them moving forward.

Those who think they’re “BIG” may have the power to degrade others, but at some point that power only reveals their weakness: small, lonely, vulnerable men trying to show “strength” through control. Deep down, they’re just broken people—dangerous ones, capable of causing real harm.

I highly recommend reading Aimee Bender and diving into her unique storytelling. Sharing a bit of the process here.
